Finding the perfect artwork for your home is always tricky, particularly if your budget isn’t huge. You might not be able to stretch to signed, limited-edition prints, but that doesn’t mean you’re happy to settle for cheap stock-photography posters.
Step forward Evermade, an online store which collaborates with up-and-coming artists to create an ever-expanding collection of eye-catching prints, as well as stationery, gifts and greetings cards. Prices start from just £35 for an unframed artwork, so you can start to build a wonderful collection without breaking the bank. And they’re kindly offering a 15% discount to readers of These Four Walls throughout June – just read on for details.
Evermade’s range has something for everyone, encompassing photography, screen prints, hand-drawn maps and more. I even managed to find the perfect finishing touch for a very pesky corner of our dining room, which I’ve been struggling to decorate for more than a year – a series of beautiful tree prints by self-taught artist Kimberley Sander.
Inspired by a love of biology and the natural world, Kimberley uses traditional woodblocking to showcase the intricate textures, shapes and lines found within different varieties of tree. She carves directly into logs to create printing blocks, before applying ink and paper. The results are incredibly striking and create a real statement when hung in clusters; I opted for ‘Red Western Cedar’, ‘Beech’ and ‘London Plane’, which now take pride of place above our table.
My other top picks from Evermade’s collection include the stunning photography of Simon Butterworth, who captures the patterns hidden in the world around us – in construction cranes, in densely packed Hong Kong highrises, even in soon-to-be-demolished Glasgow tower blocks. His aerial images of dazzling Australian salt flats are particularly stunning and look almost like abstract paintings.
I also love the quirky and charismatic ‘Zoo Portraits’ by Barcelona-based Yago Partal. Yago uses Photoshop to layer images and textures, creating individual personalities for each of his chosen animals. They’ve become hugely popular all over the world, and they make me giggle every time I look at them.
If you like the look of Evermade‘s range, you can get 15% off all orders made before 30th June 2016 – just enter the code FOURWALLS15 when prompted at the checkout.
Evermade kindly provided the Kimberley Sander prints for this post, but all words and opinions are my own.
