The autumn-winter 2017 collection from Kristina Dam

The autumn-winter 2017 collection from Kristina Dam | These Four Walls blog

I have another new-season collection to share with you today, and it’s from a Danish designer whose work hasn’t featured on These Four Walls before: Kristina Dam.

Originally a graphic designer and architect, Kristina launched her Copenhagen-based design studio in 2012. Her first collection, a series of limited-edition graphic prints, was an instant hit and she soon branched out into furniture and home accessories, many created in collaboration with up-and-coming and established designers.

Kristina’s products are defined by their sculptural, minimalist qualities, which blur the line between art and design, and the latest collection is no exception. It pairs striking geometric shapes with eye-catching materials such as brass, marble, oak, stone, steel and glass, and there’s a sense of elegance to every piece.

Stand-outs for me include the ‘Grid’ cabinet, which has perforated steel doors and a marble top, and the matching wall shelf and coat stand, both available in black and white. There are also sleek daybeds and benches that blend Japanese and Scandinavian influences, a mirrored cube table topped with marble, and the flat-packed ‘Table XL’ in oak, black or grey-oiled beech. Smaller accessories include dome-shaped concrete vases that look wonderful grouped together, a rotating mirror which is ideal for hallways and bathrooms, and silver-foil prints inspired by the modernist architecture of Le Corbusier and Walter Gropius.

My favourite pieces, though, are two creations which combine brass and beautiful curves: the ‘Mobile’ mirror, which can be hung from the ceiling as a mobile art piece or fixed directly to the wall, and the ‘Decoration Circle’, a decorative sculpture which is designed to be adorned with seasonal flowers and foliage.

Aren’t they beautiful? Definitely a brand that I’ll be keeping an eye on from now on!

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!

I now have this design in three different colourways around the house, and this is definitely my favourite to date!

I've been a fan of their sustainable bamboo kitchens and furniture for a long time, so this was a real treat. And the space itself is full of the time-worn textures and beautiful details that always catch my eye.
