Happy New Year everyone! I hope you've had a good start to 2022 so far. I'm back from a two-week festive break and I have lots of interesting interiors, travel and lifestyle content coming up, but first I want to share a little photo essay from a Christmas walk around Woodchester Park in Gloucestershire . . .
Merry Christmas!
After a rollercoaster year, today is my last working day of 2021. But before I put on my out of office and take a couple of weeks off, I want to share a peek at my final Christmas decorations - the tree, which I've dressed in grey, white, silver and earthy brown to match the decor of the living room, and my homemade wreath . . .
Minimalist Christmas table styling with festive foliage
[Advertisement - this post features PR samples] With 10 days to go, I'm putting the finishing touches in place for Christmas. I've planned the menu, started baking, added a few final decorations and practiced how I'm going to style the table - always one of my favourite things to do . . .
The Edit | Festive cocktails
Cocktails and mocktails always make celebrations feel that little bit more special, don't you think? Maybe it's the fact that we don't have them every day, or perhaps that they take a while to mix up - there are rituals involved in their creation, and the wait only makes us savour them more. Whatever the reasons, with Christmas and New Year approaching I thought I'd dedicate this month's edition . . .
My minimalist Christmas decor – the first few touches
I don't normally start decorating the house for Christmas until December, but with the weekends falling the way they do - and with the days getting increasingly gloomy - I couldn't resist adding some festive cheer a little earlier this year. So, here's a look at the touches I've incorporated so far . . .
Three nature-inspired colour schemes for timeless Christmas style
I often get design inspiration from nature, and it's no different when it comes to Christmas. So, to give you some ideas for your own festive decor, I've put together three colour palettes that all take their cue from different aspects of the winter landscape. For each I've picked out some beautiful buys to help you get the look, with pieces for your tree, table and more . . .
Carl Hansen & Søn’s OW58 ‘T-Chair’ styled two ways
[Advertisement - this is a paid partnership with Carl Hansen & Søn] Carl Hansen & Søn has been on a roll recently, re-launching a number of mid-century pieces to add to its roster of classic and contemporary Danish design. I featured one, Børge Mogensen’s ‘BM0488’ short table bench, a couple of months ago and now it's the turn of another: the beautiful OW58 'T-Chair' by Ole Wanscher . . .
Home tour | A calm loft-style retreat in earthy neutrals
For today's home-tour post I'm taking a peek at the latest project from the always-inspiring Norm Architects: the complete renovation of the first floor of a family house overlooking Gentofte Lake, just north of Copenhagen. The building itself dates back to 1918 and the remodelling has preserved much of its period character, while creating a calm refuge that suits contemporary needs . . .
New finds | November 2021
Deadlines, calendar clashes and life in general mean I'm running a little behind with November's 'new finds' post. But it's better late than never, and I have some beautiful designs to share with you this month. So, read on to discover the launches that have reached my radar over recent weeks, from minimalist furniture to gorgeous rugs and lighting . . .
21 of the best minimalist daybeds
Daybeds may seem like rather decadent additions to the home - luxury items rather than must-haves. But they're actually very useful and versatile pieces of furniture. They're much more compact than sofas, so they're ideal for small spaces or anywhere you might need a bit of additional seating every now and then. Some can even be used as proper beds . . .
