From a beautifully wintry, frosty morning before t From a beautifully wintry, frosty morning before this seemingly endless rain set in... I'm not normally one to complain about the weather, but seriously...?!

I've just realised it's a year this week since @ti I've just realised it's a year this week since @tiffanygrantriley and I were in the Netherlands, visiting the gorgeous homes of @marloeswonen and @savitahartsteen, plus a stunning project by @avenue.design.studio, for Bring The Outside In. All such beautiful spaces, and all with very cute pets who happily posed for us!

I've found myself increasingly drawn to Dutch interiors in recent years, and in fact I've featured five Dutch houses across my two books. Hopefully it won't be long before I'm back in the Netherlands again to soak up more design inspiration.

Bring The Outside In is published by @rylandpetersandsmall, with photography by Tiffany Grant-Riley and art direction by me, and is available now. See my bio link to buy a copy wherever you are.

I'm so tired of the 'beige is boring' narrative, a I'm so tired of the 'beige is boring' narrative, and the rush to judge the way others decorate their homes.

There are many reasons why someone might choose calming neutral decor (for me, it's partly because of a neurological condition called synaesthesia), and it doesn't mean they're bland and unadventurous.

Whether you like beige, loads of colour or something in between, remember that you're free to decorate your home however makes you happy. Please don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

[AD - PR products] March will be a busy month reno [AD - PR products] March will be a busy month renovation-wise, starting with the replacement of the tatty 1980s radiators that came with the house. We're going to be swapping them for the same Milano Windsor radiators from @bestheatinguk that we had in our previous home, as we were really happy with them. They're an elegant, contemporary take on the traditional column design, and I think they'll sit perfectly in our little cottage.

Now we have to decide on colour... There's an array of options, and BestHeating can send out really useful sample boxes so you can see the various finishes in situ. I've narrowed it down to classic white like we had before (third photo), or a dark grey-black that will make a bit more of a statement against our beige walls (fourth photo, courtesy of BestHeating). I need to make up my mind very soon, so I'd love to know what you'd choose...

A new chapter for These Four Walls, and the reason A new chapter for These Four Walls, and the reason I've been a bit quiet recently (aside from an ill cat).

I've spent the last few weeks giving my blog and website a makeover, and the new design is now live. I've done it all myself (definitely a learning curve!) and I'm really proud of the results. The overall aesthetic is the same, but it's sleeker and more responsive. It also gives me scope to evolve in various ways in the future, and I have a few interesting ideas brewing. It seems like a fitting way to mark my blog's 12th anniversary and also a new chapter in my own life following our house move at the end of last year.

Eagle-eyed people might notice a couple of things. Firstly, I have a new blog category devoted to the West Country and Cotswolds. I'm often asked for recommendations for my home region, so I thought I'd make then more visible and easy to find; I also want to champion local makers and creatives, and show that the UK design scene extends beyond London. Secondly, I've decided to pause my interior e-design service for now and focus my freelance offering on styling, writing, content creation and photography. It might come back in some shape or form, but the amount of time it takes versus what I can charge for it basically means I've been running it at a loss for the past few years. I'll still be sharing plenty of interiors advice and inspiration, though.

I have lots of posts coming up in the next few weeks, including updates on our cottage renovation, some beautiful new design finds and seasonal travel ideas, so I'd love it if you could follow along. And no, I won't be moving to Substack - its policy on hate speech is dire, and I've invested far too much time building up my site over more than a decade to switch to a new platform now. Blogging most definitely isn't dead!
