[Advertisement - this is a paid partnership with Georg Jensen, but all words and opinions are my own] It's my 37th birthday tomorrow (I'm not sure how that happened - I was 21 and I blinked!), and after all the stresses and strangeness of the past few months, I want nothing more than a relaxed afternoon in the garden with close family and friends . . .
Casa na Terra – a unique holiday hideaway in Portugal’s Alentejo
How does everyone feel about travelling at the moment, given the ongoing restrictions and quarantine rules? I'm still nervous about it, but that hasn't stopped me browsing the net and dreaming about where I'll go as soon as I feel a bit more confident. And my latest find, Casa na Terra in Portugal's beautiful Alentejo region, is certainly fuelling my wanderlust . . .
New designs from Kristina Dam
Details of upcoming autumn-winter homeware collections are already beginning to trickle through and I'll be sharing some of my favourites over the coming weeks. As always, my aim isn't to make you want to rush out and buy lots of new things, or feel pressured into following trends (you can read my views on those here), but simply to provide a bit of inspiration . . .
Home tour | An airy Altbau apartment in Berlin
Today I'm taking you to Berlin for a look around the beautiful home of American designer and creative Rebecca Goddard. The Altbau (period-build) apartment that she shares with her husband is a stunning mix of old and new, with soaring ceilings, parquet floors and lots of natural light. I love the way she's kept pieces to a minimum, creating a calm and airy feel . . .
21 of the best adjustable desk lamps
Last week I shared the above photo of my work set-up on Instagram and received so many questions about the lamp - IKEA's versatile and great-value 'YPPERLIG' design - that I thought I'd dedicate a whole blog post to the best adjustable desk lamps currently on the market . . .
Minimalist makers: ceramics
I'm starting the week with the first in a brand-new series focusing on independent, minimalist-style makers across a range of different categories. It's something that I've wanted to do for a while now: there are so many talented people whose work I'd like to showcase, and I know many of you are always on the lookout for unique pieces to add the perfect finishing touches to your home . . .
Eight questions to ask yourself before starting a decorating project
Any decorating project, big or small, can seem daunting. How do you work out where to begin? How do you know you'll like the results? How can you ensure you're not making costly mistakes that will take time and money to put right? And social media, while providing lots of inspiration for our homes, often adds to the confusion . . .
Home tour | A minimalist haven in Manchester
I always enjoy putting together these interview-style home tours, as I love showing real-life spaces - and finding out more about the people, stories and inspirations behind them. Today's is a particularly special one, as it focuses on somewhere that I've wanted to feature for a long time: the gorgeous Manchester house of stylist Hali Mason . . .
New finds | July 2020
It's the start of a new month, which means it's time for my regular round-up of design finds. My latest selection includes wonderful makers and retailers who I've come across for the very first time, together with exciting product launches from a few old favourites. There are also details of new paint and scent collections . . .
Ferm Living’s new showroom & concept store
Today I'm taking you on a virtual trip to Copenhagen, where one of my favourite Danish brands, Ferm Living, has just opened the doors to its brand-new showroom and concept store. I visited Ferm's previous home - a period apartment above the city's main shopping street - several times over the years, and I always admired the way it was decorated . . .
