Another month has rolled by, so it’s time for my regular round-up of design news and product launches. As usual I have plenty of discoveries from Scandinavia to share, as well as a few finds from home shores – plus scroll down for details of some interesting events coming up over the next few weeks. Also, just a little reminder that there’s more interiors, travel and lifestyle inspiration in my . . .
Tivoli: a brand-new collection from Normann Copenhagen
Copenhagen’s Tivoli Gardens have been the setting for some of my fondest memories. I used to visit as a teenager with my Danish penfriend, and we’d spend hours testing our nerves on the rides before gorging ourselves silly on hot dogs and ice cream. So, I was intrigued to hear that Normann Copenhagen is launching a new homeware collection named after and inspired by the world-famous theme park. . . .
My favourite outdoor furniture ranges for summer 2018
Summer seems to have arrived early this year, and from the look of Instagram most of Europe is basking in beautiful sunshine at the moment. We also have a public holiday coming up here in the UK, so I imagine I'm not the only one planning lazy afternoons in the garden and balmy alfresco dinners this weekend. Our own garden is currently a bit of a jungle, but I'm already dreaming about how to . . .
MADE.com launches ‘TalentLAB’ to support emerging designers
A couple of weeks ago I was invited up to London to visit the brand-new offices of MADE.com, which has long been one of my go-to brands for stylish yet affordable design. It was a great opportunity to have a peek at their latest collection (more on that in future posts) and learn about the MADE TalentLAB – a fantastic new initiative which gives emerging designers the chance to showcase their work . . .
A stay at Nobis Hotel Copenhagen
Whenever I travel, I always try to seek out beautiful hotels which appeal to my love of design – not only are they a treat to stay in, they're also a wonderful source of inspiration for my own projects. The Swedish Nobis Hospitality Group has been responsible for some of my favourites to date, including Miss Clara and Hotel J in Stockholm, and its first addition in Denmark – Nobis Hotel Copenhagen . . .
Home tour | A contemporary coastal hideaway in Denmark
As much as I love city living, I've always longed to have a seaside pad to escape to every now and then, and this new-build Danish home from the ever-talented team at Norm Architects is the coastal hideaway of my dreams. Located in an unspoilt corner of northern Zealand, an hour from Copenhagen, the timber-clad house blends sleek Scandinavian minimalism with a dash of Bohemian barefoot luxury, . . .
A bedroom wall-art refresh
[Advertisement - this is a paid partnership with Posterlounge, but all words and opinions are my own] I love how small changes can instantly transform a room, and one of my favourite quick-win updates is choosing new artworks for the walls. I’ve already had fun selecting prints for the gallery walls in our living room, and now it’s the turn of our master bedroom. Art is such a lovely way . . .
Profile | Minimalist ceramics from Tracy Dixon
Today I’d like to introduce you to the first ceramics collection from talented Wiltshire-based photographer and now full-time potter Tracy Dixon. Tracy’s quiet, minimalist aesthetic is simply beautiful, and her pieces include everything from flat bud vases to stunning organically shaped bowls. Perhaps surprisingly given her clear flair for the craft, her move into ceramics has been a relatively . . .
New finds | May 2018
Is it just me, or did April whizz past in the blink of an eye? Anyway, it's the start of a new month, so it's time for another round-up of things that have caught my eye over the past few weeks. There's been a raft of interesting product launches and design news recently, thanks largely to the huge Salone del Mobile (the world's largest furniture trade fair), which has just taken place in . . .
Six ways to use window film
[Advertisement - this is a paid partnership with Purlfrost, but all words and opinions are my own] Like many people, we have ground-floor windows which face the street, meaning passers-by can peer straight into our living room. As part of our ongoing makeover project, I’ve spent a long time mulling over how to increase privacy without blocking out the light, and one of the potential . . .
