A bedroom wall-art refresh | These Four Walls blog

[Advertisement - this is a paid partnership with Posterlounge, but all words and opinions are my own] I love how small changes can instantly transform a room, and one of my favourite quick-win updates is choosing new artworks for the walls. I’ve already had fun selecting prints for the gallery walls in our living room, and now it’s the turn of our master bedroom. Art is such a lovely way . . .

Minimalist ceramics from Tracy Dixon | These Four Walls blog

Today I’d like to introduce you to the first ceramics collection from talented Wiltshire-based photographer and now full-time potter Tracy Dixon. Tracy’s quiet, minimalist aesthetic is simply beautiful, and her pieces include everything from flat bud vases to stunning organically shaped bowls. Perhaps surprisingly given her clear flair for the craft, her move into ceramics has been a relatively . . .

New finds for May 2018 | These Four Walls blog

Is it just me, or did April whizz past in the blink of an eye? Anyway, it's the start of a new month, so it's time for another round-up of things that have caught my eye over the past few weeks. There's been a raft of interesting product launches and design news recently, thanks largely to the huge Salone del Mobile (the world's largest furniture trade fair), which has just taken place in . . .

Six ways to use window film | These Four Walls blog

[Advertisement - this is a paid partnership with Purlfrost, but all words and opinions are my own] Like many people, we have ground-floor windows which face the street, meaning passers-by can peer straight into our living room. As part of our ongoing makeover project, I’ve spent a long time mulling over how to increase privacy without blocking out the light, and one of the potential . . .

A visit to ‘The Home’ by Ferm Living

A visit to 'The Home' by Ferm Living | These Four Walls blog

My obsession with grey and white decor will be pretty obvious to anyone who spends more than a couple of seconds browsing this blog (you can read more about the reasons behind it here). But even though I prefer to fill my own home with neutral shades, I love seeing how colour and pattern are used in other spaces. And one of my favourite examples is 'The Home' – the beautiful Copenhagen show . . .

A new IKEA kitchen hack from Cecilie Manz & Reform

A new IKEA kitchen hack from Cecilie Manz & Reform | These Four Walls blog

Apologies for the radio silence over the past couple of weeks – I was ill for a few days and then headed off to Copenhagen for a city break with my lovely mum. I'll be sharing some discoveries from our trip in future posts, but first I'm getting back into the swing of blogging with some news from Danish brand Reform. Reform is one of several companies which make custom fronts to jazz up . . .

The unusual reason behind my love of grey and white decor…

The unusual reason behind my love of grey and white decor | These Four Walls blog

I don’t normally publish particularly personal posts, but my living room makeover plans – and the fact that I’m essentially swapping one shade of grey for another – have got me thinking about my love of muted decor. And more specifically, about one rather unusual reason behind it. Whenever anyone asks me why I’m so obsessed with grey and white, I tend to reel off the same answers: that they’re . . .

Home tour | A grey Gothenburg apartment styled for spring

Home tour - a grey Gothenburg apartment styled for spring | These Four Walls blog

For my latest home tour I'm heading back to the Swedish city of Gothenburg – the location of so many of the places which I end up featuring here – for a peek at a beautiful apartment that's full of inspiration for simple spring styling. It's set in a 19th-century building and packed with original features, including grand double doors that create a wonderful sense of flow between the different . . .

12 of the best minimalist floor lamps | These Four Walls blog

It's ages since I've done a 'best of' round-up, but they were often picked out as a favourite by the people who kindly responded to my reader survey earlier this year, so I think it's time I restarted the series. For this installment I'm focusing on minimalist floor lamps – something which I'm currently researching for my own living-room makeover. There are hundreds of wonderful designs to . . .

Snaps from a lovely long weekend in leafy Richmond Snaps from a lovely long weekend in leafy Richmond, West London. I've spent many happy times there over the years as one of my closest friends lives there, but she's about to move house. So, Chris and I made the most of our last visit before she relocates - and the weather was certainly kind to us!

Some photos of the gorgeous @a.__gallery, which I Some photos of the gorgeous @a.__gallery, which I visited on a recent trip to the Netherlands. Isn't it beautiful? Calm, textural and layered, with handmade pieces by an array of independent artists and artisans.

I've also interviewed Holly, founder of the gallery and interior design studio @avenue.design.studio, on my blog. I've always admired the elegant, timeless spaces she creates, and the way she reflects the architectural context of each setting. I first met her in person last year, when I featured her own home in my book, and I've since worked with her on another exciting project that I can't wait to share soon...

I missed the opening event for this last year, so it was great to finally have a look around in person. The light is stunning, as is GUBI's selection of contemporary and classic designs - including the sculptural and futuristic F300 lounge chair, first designed by Pierre Paulin in the 1960s and recently relaunched.

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!
