Over the last few months I've seen lots of references to 'Japandi' - a fusion between Japanese and Scandinavian design which is inspiring interiors all over the world. I don't particularly like the term, but in many respects it's a natural pairing - despite originating on different sides of the globe, Japanese and Scandinavian design share obvious similarities. Both focus on simplicity and . . .
The spring-summer 2018 collection from Ferm Living
It’s that time of year when homeware and furniture brands start releasing details of their upcoming spring-summer collections. I’ll be sharing some of my favourites over the next few weeks, starting with a Danish company whose ability to interpret the latest trends while staying true to its own distinctive aesthetic never fails to impress: Ferm Living. Like its autumn-winter 2017 range, Ferm’s . . .

Instagram is awash with envy-inducing interiors and over the years it's become one of my go-to sources of inspiration for minimalist design. I thought it was time I shared a few of my favourite feeds, so scroll down to see 10 Instagrammers who are well worth following if you're also drawn to simple, Scandinavian-influenced décor and calming colours. And of course don't forget to check out my . . .
Home tour | A minimalist house by a Norwegian lake
It’s time for my first home-tour post of 2018, and I couldn’t resist kicking off with the Gjøvik House - another creation from one of my favourite design studios, Copenhagen-based Norm Architects. Located an hour north of Oslo, on a wooded hillside overlooking Lake Mjøsa, this minimalist abode is formed from a cluster of six overlapping cubes of different sizes. Their varying heights prevent . . .
A home-office refresh with the Hairpin Leg Co
[Advertisement - this is a paid partnership with the Hairpin Leg Co, but all words and opinions are my own] I love starting a new year with new stationery, new notebooks and a crisp, blank planner – it always gives me a wonderful sense of back-to-school freshness and anticipation. But for 2018, I’ve gone one step further with a sparkling new desk for my home office. I first shared a . . .
Interior-design trends for 2018
Back in November I was one of a group of bloggers invited to London’s Miele Experience Centre by the lovely people at Houzz for a roundtable discussion on interior-design trends for 2018. It was a fascinating evening: over a delicious meal cooked by Anne Hansen of The Modern Pantry, we chatted about what’s in, what’s out, and what’s set to stay around for a little while longer. I don’t for a . . .
Merry Christmas!
Just a very short post today to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. I'm taking a break over the festive period to relax with family and friends after what turned out to be a momentous 2017 - I got married in May, left my job to blog full-time in August, and travelled to Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Italy and beyond. I'll be back in early January with more design and travel inspiration, . . .
Home tour | A stylish farmhouse rental in Wales
This wonderfully cosy Welsh farmhouse seemed like the ideal choice for my last home tour of 2017. Available to rent for short breaks and holidays, it forms part of Fforest – a collection of teepees, bell tents, eco-domes and cabins hidden among wild meadows and ancient woodland, just a few miles from the coastal town of Cardigan. I was lucky enough to have a peek inside when I spent three nights . . .
The final festive touches
December seems to be flying by, and I can't believe Christmas is now just over a week away. Although I put most of our decorations up a while ago (blogging means doing it a lot earlier than I used to!), a few additional festive touches have crept in over the past couple of days. . . .
Simple Christmas table styling
I've always loved dressing the table for Christmas. It was my job as a child, and I'd spend much of Christmas morning in my parents' garden with a pair of scissors, decimating their holly bushes in a bid to find the prettiest sprigs. It's a task I take very seriously to this day, and even though we're not hosting Christmas this year, I still want to create a festive atmosphere for December meals . . .
