Christmas gift wrapping with Inkifi

December 2, 2016

This is a paid partnership with Inkifi, but all words and opinions are my own

Gift wrapping is something I tend to put a lot of thought into, particularly at Christmas, when I love coming up with creative new ideas. After all, beautifully packaged presents always feel just that little bit more special, don’t they?

This year, I’ve decided to add a personal twist to the gifts I give by making tags featuring some of my Instagram photos from the last 12 months. It’s a great way to share memories and, thanks to UK-based company Inkifi, it’s also incredibly easy to do.

Inkifi allows you to order prints, photobooks and postcards straight from Instagram, and it’s quick and simple to use. You just download the app onto your phone, sync it with your Instagram feed and select the photos you want to order. The prints arrive within days on sustainable, high-quality card and, at £8.99 for 16 (including delivery), they’re no more expensive than off-the-shelf tags.

As it’s Christmas, I chose snowy photos from our trip to Iceland, along with some snaps of the deer at Dyrham Park (a National Trust property just outside Bristol) and some additional festive pictures from a rights-free website. I opted for a classic Polaroid format, but there are all sorts of options to choose from – there are even ‘mini prints’, which would work brilliantly on smaller parcels.

One of the great things about using photos as gift tags is that they look good with almost any combination of wrapping paper and ribbon. I stuck to my normal muted style and opted for plain brown and white paper paired with grey bakers’ twine (available from my shop), but you really could use anything you fancy.

I went for a clean, minimal look and slotted the prints behind the twine, attaching them to the parcel with a dot of glue. If you prefer more traditional tied tags, you could easily flip the photos so that the white strip sits at the top (the Inkifi app lets you crop and edit as needed) and punch a hole in that. Alternatively, you could use the white space for the recipient’s name, rather than writing it on the back as I’ve done.

If you want more inspiration for simple yet striking gift wrap, do take a look at last year’s post. And if you’re looking for more ways to use Instagram prints, Inkifi’s blog is packed with ideas.

Snaps from a lovely long weekend in leafy Richmond Snaps from a lovely long weekend in leafy Richmond, West London. I've spent many happy times there over the years as one of my closest friends lives there, but she's about to move house. So, Chris and I made the most of our last visit before she relocates - and the weather was certainly kind to us!

Some photos of the gorgeous @a.__gallery, which I Some photos of the gorgeous @a.__gallery, which I visited on a recent trip to the Netherlands. Isn't it beautiful? Calm, textural and layered, with handmade pieces by an array of independent artists and artisans.

I've also interviewed Holly, founder of the gallery and interior design studio @avenue.design.studio, on my blog. I've always admired the elegant, timeless spaces she creates, and the way she reflects the architectural context of each setting. I first met her in person last year, when I featured her own home in my book, and I've since worked with her on another exciting project that I can't wait to share soon...

I missed the opening event for this last year, so it was great to finally have a look around in person. The light is stunning, as is GUBI's selection of contemporary and classic designs - including the sculptural and futuristic F300 lounge chair, first designed by Pierre Paulin in the 1960s and recently relaunched.

Which room or corner is your favourite...?

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!
