There’s a definite hint of spring in the air this week. The sun is shining (for the most part), blossoms and daffodils have started to emerge, and there’s a touch of warmth in the breeze when I leave for work each morning. It feels as if the world is awakening around me, and it’s making my spirits soar.
Homeware brands also seem to be embracing the fleeting beauty of this time of year, and in recent weeks I’ve seen a raft of new products inspired by eggs (a symbol of new life and the changing seasons since Pagan times). My favourite so far is Rowen & Wren’s eggshell plant pot, complete with a drip tray and a cracked top. It looks stunning with a single bulb or succulent, or with little sprigs of spring flowers; I also like the idea of grouping a few together to create quirky Easter table settings or seasonal kitchen herb displays.
Cox & Cox has a range of egg-shaped baubles made from different materials – perfect for hanging off branches (decorated trees aren’t just for Christmas!). There are also feathers, birds and rabbits, if you fancy mixing things up a bit.
There are yet more eggs over at Rockett St George, including this copper-wire cage, which can be fitted around plants and flowers or used as a storage basket….
And at Nordic House, where I spotted egg-shaped candles (complete with yolk-coloured insides!) and delicate glass baubles filled with feathers.
Finally, good old Broste Copenhagen has a whole host of egg-themed accessories, including ceramic jars, bowls and sleek marble decorations.
Of course, you can also have fun creating your own decorations using eggs and dye – I found a handy tutorial covering marbling, dip-dying, speckling and sponging here.
