This beautifully airy three-bedroom apartment instantly caught my eye when I saw it on the website of Swedish estate agent Stadshem, and I couldn’t resist featuring it in my latest home-tour post.
Set in central Gothenburg and newly renovated, it was styled for sale by interior design studio Greydeco. It ticks almost every box on my dream-home wishlist: a muted palette of grey and white, stunning period features (that stucco ceiling is spectacular!), lots of natural light, and a scattering of timeless Scandinavian design classics. But what really set it apart are the tan, ochre and beige accents dotted throughout, which give a hint of warmth without overpowering the neutral scheme.
The lounge is my favourite space: understated yet luxurious, and very inviting. I love the contrast between the contemporary low-slung sofa and the vintage grey-leather armchairs, and the pair of ‘Slit’ coffee tables from HAY (one black, the other mirrored) make the perfect addition. Relaxed linen cushions, monochrome artwork and a white ‘AJ’ floor lamp by Louis Poulsen complete the look.
The elegant feel continues in the bedrooms, one of which has a bed canopy made from folds of breezy white linen. It works brilliantly with the room’s circular shape, creating a whimsical, romantic look that makes me think of fairy-tale turrets. The other bedroom is a little more minimalist, with a striking black and white painting as a focal point, plus bedside tables, a steam-bent pendant light, a desk and a chair all made from sleek plywood.
The open-plan kitchen-diner is simple and pared-back, but the wider colour scheme has been incorporated in the form of white cupboard doors and wooden worktops. The sideboard cleverly echoes the units on the other side of the room, as do the plywood chairs and white ‘Semi’ pendant light by Gubi.
All in all, it’s a stunning apartment, and it’s certainly got me thinking about how I could bring a few warmer elements into my own grey and white home.
