I have a bit of design-related travel news to start the week, as I’ve just discovered that Brochner Hotels, owner of long-time Copenhagen favourite Hotel SP34, is about to launch a brand-new base in the Danish capital.
Called Hotel Danmark, it’s due to open its doors to guests in April and, from the look of the press photos, it’s going to be stunning. The interiors blend sleek Scandinavian lines and mid-century modern classics with decadent touches, including four-poster beds, forest-green walls and brass accents. I particularly love the leather-padded headboards, which are softened by snuggly cushions in pale grey and mint green, and the striking dome-shaped bedside lamps.
The hotel will also offer an organic breakfast, a roof terrace, an urban garden planted with vines, and a bar with a free wine hour every evening (a fantastic idea that’s been borrowed from SP34). As for the location, it’s ideal: bang in the centre of Copenhagen, near the Tivoli Gardens, City Hall and the National Museum, and just a few minutes’ walk from Nyhavn.
You can book a stay at Hotel Danmark here, and read my review of Hotel SP34 here. I’ve also put together a guide to some of my favourite places in Copenhagen, including restaurants, galleries, shops and more. As for me, I’m now off to research flights for a sneaky Danish city break…
