Summer may still be in full swing (in fact, it’s only just arrived here in the UK!), but homeware brands have already started releasing details of their autumn-winter 2016 collections, and all sorts of interesting things have been popping up in my inbox over recent days. Here’s a round-up of my favourites so far…
NORR11 at Houseology
Among a raft of additions to online interior design store Houseology are furniture and lighting from Danish brand NORR11, which fuses sleek Scandinavian lines with interesting textures such as natural timber, mottled concrete, shiny brass and soft leather. Stand-out pieces include the cocooning ‘Mammoth’ chair, the simple yet striking ‘Cloche Three’ pendant lamp, a stunning dining table hand-hewn from a single slab of wood, and the elegant ‘Duke’ coffee tables.
New Skandinavisk candle scents
You may remember my recent interview with Skandinavisk, in which founder Shaun talked about two upcoming candles. Well, the details have just been released. The first is ‘BÆR’, a warming berry scent reminiscent of late summer and autumn foraging; the second is ‘NORDLYS’, which was inspired by the Northern Lights and has coloured wax designed to echo the dancing Aurora Borealis when lit. Both will be available to buy from September, and I can’t wait to give them a go.
Soft Edge chairs by HAY
I always look forward to seeing what iconic Danish brand HAY will come up with next, and its latest offering – a collection of moulded plywood chairs called ‘Soft Edge‘ – hasn’t disappointed. The work of Danish duo Iskos-Berlin, they’re lightweight and stackable, with a range of colour options and a choice between steel or wooden frames. I love their slightly curved edges, with give an air of mid-century modernism to the design.
Parkwood ceramics from Lane
Lane (best known for its funky two-tone lampshades, designed in conjunction with paint company Little Greene) has released a beautiful range of stoneware by Derbyshire-based Parkwood Pottery. There are mugs, jugs, plates and bowls, all hand-thrown and glazed in delicate shades of white, grey and blue.
New additions at Another Country
British contemporary craft company Another Country has launched several new designs, including ‘First Light’, a table and floor lamp with brass legs and a white stoneware shade, and a three-legged stool made in conjunction with clothing designer Oliver Spencer. I particularly like the look of the ‘Series Two Desk’, which combines walnut and oiled ash to give a striking effect.
I’ll share more new-season collections over the coming weeks, so watch this space…
