Today I have images of another fantastic new-season collection from Scandinavia to delight your eyes, this time from Danish brand Ferm Living.
This year, Ferm has blended contemporary Nordic style with influences from bygone eras. The result is a mix of decadent materials and sleek Scandinavian lines which is somehow both extravagant and highly functional.
I particularly love the ‘Adorn’ mirror, whose curved brass mounting reflects the Art Deco shapes of the 1920s and 30s, and the ‘Salon’ cushions, whose intricate patterns and metallic flashes were inspired by the sumptuous fabrics of 18th- and 19th-century French salons. Just as stunning is a beautiful collection of mouth-blown champagne glasses called ‘Ripple’ – a modern spin on antique glassware.
Many of the accessories (the ‘Coupled’ candleholder and tray, the ‘Buckled’ spotted jar) have a speckled pattern reminiscent of aged metal or stone. It’s an innovative twist on the geometric designs for which Ferm has become known in recent years, and it looks incredibly striking against a plain wall or tabletop.
In addition to designs with historic references, Ferm has produced a range of stackable coffee, espresso and egg cups called ‘Groove’. Available in white, light grey and dark grey, they have a contemporary matte-porcelain finish and a distinctive grooved pattern.
There’s also a new line of organic cotton bedding called ‘Hush’, which comes in soft pastel colours that can be mixed and matched to create different looks.
Finally, Ferm has released new versions of its ‘Herman’ chair and ‘Punctual’ shelving system in one of 2017’s hottest shades: rose-pink. Both would be ideal for adding subtle pops of colour to muted schemes, and they’ve shot straight to the top of my interiors wishlist!
