Another wedding mood board for you today: industrial chic.
I love the idea of holding weddings and other celebrations in industrial venues – for me they have real beauty, and they provide blank canvases for all sorts of interesting decoration. They also have a lot of history to tell, as so many lives have played out within their walls over the years.
This is the look we’d aim for if we choose an urban warehouse or a former factory for our big day – perhaps Arnolfini, Paintworks or fantastic new event space The Forge in Bristol, or The West Mill in my home county of Derbyshire. We’d offset rough brick walls, cast-iron girders and exposed pipework with swathes of natural greenery and gauzy white drapes; it creates such an eye-catching contrast and shows off the character of these wonderful old spaces. We’d also make use of the lofty ceilings by suspending garlands, strings of fairy lights and clusters of vintage-style bulbs from them – something that’s often impossible in more traditional venues. And of course, we’d place candles everywhere…
