Melo & Therese Sennerholt launch ‘Dark Edition’

Today I want to share some news from Sweden, where furniture studio Melo has just launched a new collaborative collection named ‘Dark Edition’.

Founded by a group of Stockholm-based friends, including designer and interior photographer Sara Medina Lind and furniture maker Olle Holman, Melo focuses on ‘handcrafted minimalism’ and has featured on These Four Walls before. Its latest range is a joint project with graphic designer Therese Sennerholt and features five of her distinctive geometric art prints alongside new black versions of Melo’s solid-ash coffee table, stool, magazine rack, mirror and decorative orb.

I love the story behind the collaboration, as it started in a very Swedish way: with a discussion over fika. Chatting and realising that they shared a passion for striking yet timeless design, Sara and Therese decided to create two self-contained yet complementary ranges to showcase their joint ethos, and ‘Dark Edition’ was born.

Like all other Melo designs, the latest furniture peices are handmade in Dalarna, a region of central Sweden that’s renowned for its crafts, and available for shipping worldwide. Only the best-quality ash is selected, and it’s treated twice with a black glaze that darkens the surface without obscuring its grain or character. Therese Sennerholt’s works are printed on sustainable paper using a unique technique that saturates the tones, and are signed and numbered.
