Well, what a strange year 2016 has turned out to be. On a personal level, it’s been wonderful – it started with a road trip around Iceland and a surprise proposal, and ended with a couple of exciting new projects (more on those to follow soon). On a global level, it’s been turbulent and troubling, and I can’t help facing 2017 with a twinge of trepidation.
Next year is going to be a big one in many ways – I’m getting married in May, and I’m planning some major changes which I hope will allow me to spend more time focusing on the things I’m really passionate about. In these increasingly dark times, I’m also determined to choose hope over hatred and do whatever I can to help counter the rising tide of intolerance and prejudice which seems to be sweeping the globe.
I’ll be back at the start of January with more interiors, lifestyle and travel inspiration, together with some snazzy new blog features. In the meantime, I’m heading to Derbyshire for a few days of relaxation and laughter with my family, and I can’t wait to slow down, take stock and indulge in some simple festive pleasures.
Whatever you’re doing, I hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year – and thanks for reading These Four Walls in 2016!
