One of my highlights from this year’s 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen was the Ask og Eng apartment – the home of writer Emily Nathan, which the Norwegian studio had designed from scratch and which was accessible to the public during the festival. It has since remained visitable by appointment for those keen to see Ask og Eng’s kitchens, furniture and object collection in a real-life setting, and now it’s throwing open its doors once again for a pop-up ‘Christmas Atelier’.
The brainchild of Ask og Eng founders Kine and Kristoffer, the event will see the apartment transformed into a festive wonderland, complete with a shoppable selection of pieces that would make perfect gifts. From the look of the preview images shown here, it promises to be absolutely beautiful, with lots of inspiration for minimalist Christmas styling using neutral colours and natural materials.
The focal point of the Atelier is a Christmas tree adorned with a lone giant fabric bow. The overall effect is a simple yet stunning, and proof that you really don’t need much to create gorgeous festive decor. I particularly love the way the tails drape elegantly across the floor, almost leading the eye into the space towards the fir, and the way the beige linen fits in with the wider decor.
At the other end of the apartment, the dining table is dressed with neutral linen napkins, timeless glass champagne coupes and seasonal foliage. Plain pillar candles in varying heights are interspersed with bud vases displaying single sculptural stems, creating a magical centrepiece for festive meals.
As for the gift wrapping, it’s understated yet elegant, with more beige linen tied up with brown and off-white silk ribbons – and Kine and her team will be on hand throughout the two days of the Atelier to parcel up any gifts purchased.
The Ask og Eng ‘Christmas Atelier’ will be open from 10am to 5pm on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November 2024, at Ole Suhrs Gade 16, Copenhagen.
