As we head into February, interiors brands are starting to release details of their new-season collections, and I’ll be sharing some of my favourites with you over the coming weeks. But first, it’s time for my regular round-up of individual product launches that have caught my eye, this month encompassing a beautiful kitchen, contemporary takes on classic chairs, adaptable furniture and more…
The Vipp ‘V3’ kitchen
First up is Vipp, which has launched its third kitchen range, the ‘V3’. The design pays homage to the Danish brand’s 85-year tradition of metalwork, with anodised aluminium cabinets sporting vertically extruded profiles that curve elegantly around the edges. Like Vipp’s existing kitchens, the powder-coated steel ‘V1’ and the oak-and-glass ‘V2’, it’s fully modular and made up of freestanding wall, tall and island units that can be mixed and matched to suit different spaces and needs. It was inspired by the use of aluminium in the brand’s ‘Chimney House’ and ‘Shelter’ guesthouses and puts an elegant, lightweight spin on the material. The cabinets rest of four legs that can be adjusted to cope with uneven floors, and almost look as if they’re floating above the ground. They also have discreet handles and are topped with 4mm-thick stainless-steel worktops that can be supplied with integrated gas or induction hobs on request.

A new twist on classic Thonet chairs
Next up is German company Thonet, which has unveiled new ‘dark melange’ versions of the iconic ‘S32’ and ‘S64’ chairs, first designed by Marcel Breuer in the 1920s and renowned for their cantilevered shapes, tubular steel frames and cane seats and backrests. The latest variants were created by German designer Sebastian Herkner and combine steelwork in five different nature-inspired hues – black, chestnut, amber, pink ‘Rosewood’ and sage green – with shimmering canework that oscillates between black, chocolate and lighter tones. It’s an elegant and intriguing rethink of two timeless designs (the ‘S32 without armrests and the ‘S64’ with), with beautiful depth and variation.
The ‘Dark Melange’ chairs are on sale now, and you can find details of stockists here.
Carl Hansen & Søn’s ‘Vega’ chair in chrome
There’s also a new take on a classic chair from Carl Hansen & Søn, which has released a polished chrome version of the VLA26 ‘Vega’ chair. Originally created by Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen for Copenhagen’s Folkets Hus (now the ‘Vega’ music venue) in 1956, the design only went into full production in 2022. It proved an instant hit thanks to its elegant shape, its stackability and its lightweight yet sturdy construction, and the option of a chrome-plated frame instead of black powder-coated steel increases its versatility even further. The shiny metal contrasts beautifully with the warm wood of the seat and backrest, and serves to highlight the design’s distinctive oak feet even further. Like the original, it’s available with or without upholstery, with prices starting at £615 / €645.

New designs from Form & Refine
Sticking with Danish design, Form & Refine has debuted several gorgeous products for spring 2024. Designed by Jonas Herman of Herman Studio, the ‘Taper’ wall shelf (€598) and ‘Journal’ side table (€388) both blend a clean-lined, minimalist aesthetic with functionality and flexibility. The shelf is made of stainless steel and provides a handy place for organising and displaying small objects – ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, home offices, living spaces and more. It has a wonderfully delicate appearance and looks stunning when offset with wood or other warm materials. The side table, meanwhile, encompasses book and magazine storage, with rounded edges that contrast beautifully with its sharp leg profiles. It comes in natural or white oak veneer.
Also new from Form & Refine is the ‘Pinho’ carafe and glass set (€79), developed in collaboration with designer Linnea Ek Blæhr and a family-owned Portuguese company. It has a simple yet striking form that instantly denotes its function, with tiny bubbles trapped within the glass adding an intriguing note of detail. The glass doubles as a lid for the carafe, and both are suitable for hot drinks as well as cold.
Oak-framed storage from Bisley
Finally, British furniture brand Bisley, known for its versatile storage and home-working solutions, has launched a new five-piece collection called ‘Rowan’. It encompasses a side cabinet, media units, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe, all combining FSC-certified oak frames and minimalist wooden pull handles with powder-coated steel fronts in 15 different colourways. Options range from sleek white and earthy olive green to more vibrant oranges, blues and pinks, meaning you can select something that blends with your existing interiors or add a splash of colour as an eye-catching accent.
