New furniture & homeware finds | August 2016

Limited-edition grey Kubus by Lassen | New furniture and homeware finds | These Four Walls blog

Last month I posted a round-up of some of my favourite new homeware finds, and there’s been such a raft of exciting launches since then that I’ve decided to make it a regular series. So, here’s a look at the latest products to reach my radar…

Limited-edition grey for the Kubus by Lassen candleholder

To celebrate what would have been architect Mogens Lassen’s 115th birthday, by Lassen has introduced a limited-edition grey version of his iconic ‘Kubus 4’ candleholder – news that has got me particularly excited, as it combines one of my favourite Scandinavian design classics with my all-time favourite colour. It will be available from early September on a first-come, first-served basis, and I can’t wait to get my hands on one.

Norm Architects for Reform

Copenhagen-based Reform has made its name by enabling people to jazz up standard IKEA kitchen units with stylish fronts and worktops designed by the likes of BIG and Henning Larsen. Its latest offering comes from renowned Danish architects Norm and reflects their clean-lined, geometric aesthetic. The mix-and-match selection combines smoked oak and bronzed tombac doors with oxidised brass and concrete (all of which develop beautiful patinas over time), and is both durable and striking.

New additions at Menu

Also emanating from Copenhagen is the autumn-winter 2016 collection from Menu, which focuses on creating simple, stylish solutions for everyday living. Its products cover everything from lighting to accessories – my favourites are the ‘Blur’ storage boxes, the smoked-glass ‘Troll’ vases and the brass stem holder, which has an innovative ring to support the stalk. I also love the new marble-topped options in the ‘Wire’ series of side tables and plant stands.

Scented goodies from Hobo Soy Candles

Long-standing favourite Hobo Soy Candles has a host of new products, all hand-poured by founder Rachael Clark in Louth, Lincolnshire. All her fragrances are now available as reed diffusers, and there’s a selection of double-wicked candles in recycled glass jars, complete with hand-printed drawstring presentation bags (I love the Citrus & Basil version, which instantly transports me to the sunny shores of the Mediterranean). Rachael has also developed a scent to support charity Bloodwise, with 10% of all sales going towards leukemia and lymphoma research.

Moroccan wedding blankets from Rockett St George

Finally, UK-based homeware retailer Rockett St George now stocks a range of handmade Moroccan wedding blankets, or handira. The blankets originate from the Berber culture and are traditionally woven by the bride’s family to be worn as a cape on her wedding day. They come in a range of sizes, with intricate patterns and sequins, and look beautiful draped over beds and sofas.

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!

Back on the grid after more than two weeks. Thanks Back on the grid after more than two weeks. Thanks to everyone who sent messages checking I was OK - I just lost my Instagram mojo and needed a bit of a break. Anyway, here are some phone-camera snippets of life lately...

I now have this design in three different colourways around the house, and this is definitely my favourite to date!

I've been a fan of their sustainable bamboo kitchens and furniture for a long time, so this was a real treat. And the space itself is full of the time-worn textures and beautiful details that always catch my eye.
