New furniture & homeware finds | March 2017

Eye-catching additions at Skagerak | New furniture & homeware finds | March 2017

Another month, another slew of beautiful new home accessories and furniture designs to coo over. Here’s a round-up of the pieces that have caught my eye over the last few weeks…

‘Tone’ acoustic cabinets from Norm Architects

I’m a big fan of Norm Architects, so I was excited to learn that they’ve just launched a striking new design collaboration with Swedish brand Zilenzio. Named ‘Tone’, their latest project is a range of acoustic cabinets for the workplace and home. Clad in fabric which absorbs certain frequencies of sound, they’ve been designed to create balanced acoustic environments that aid concentration and focus. As well as being functional, they’re incredibly stylish, with a sleek shape and a variety of colours and sizes to choose from. And it’s worth taking a few moments to admire the location for the press photos: the stunning Kinfolk Gallery in Copenhagen, itself a Norm creation.

New colourways for Uashmama paper bags

Uashmama’s washable paper bags have become incredibly popular in the last few years, and the range has just been extended with new options in dark grey, stone and metallic silver. Designed and made in Tuscany by four sisters who created the brand in homage to their mother, they feel like leather and wash like fabric. They’re also incredibly versatile, and can be used as anything from plant pots to bread baskets. Uashmama’s designs, including the new colour options, are available in the UK from The Future Kept, whose owners Jeska and Dean took these beautiful images.

Eye-catching additions at Skagerak

Skagerak has launched a raft of new pieces, all of which reflect the 40-year-old Danish brand’s philosophy that great design should be part of everyday life. They include Martin Solem’s clever ‘Wire’ wall shelves and two new candleholders – NOIDOI’s ingenious ‘Tube’ (pictured at the top of this post), which can be flipped over to hold candles or tealights, and Ditte Buus Nielsen’s playful ‘Cookie’. There’s also the versatile ‘Nomad’ table tray, which is made of oak with removable powder-coated steel legs. My personal favourites, though, are the tableware ranges – ‘Edge’ by Stilleben, which mixes sleek Scandinavian lines with earthy terracotta, and the beautifully minimalist ‘Nordic’ by VE2, which encompasses oak and porcelain pieces with rounded edges.

Exclusive Sue Ure ceramics at Oggetto

Finally, Dorset-based Oggetto has added an exclusive taupe option to its range of clean-lined, contemporary tableware from ceramicist Sue Ure. Hand-thrown in the South of France, Sue’s mugs, jugs, cups and vases are made from stoneware and porcelain, with a mix of matte and shiny glazes that creates a striking yet minimalist look. As well as the taupe pieces, Oggetto also stocks her designs in black, pink and white, which can be mixed and matched as needed.

Love those paper bags! I’ve been on the lookout for one to put a plant in for ages. They stopped selling similar ones in H&M Home annoyingly!

Snaps from a lovely long weekend in leafy Richmond Snaps from a lovely long weekend in leafy Richmond, West London. I've spent many happy times there over the years as one of my closest friends lives there, but she's about to move house. So, Chris and I made the most of our last visit before she relocates - and the weather was certainly kind to us!

Some photos of the gorgeous @a.__gallery, which I Some photos of the gorgeous @a.__gallery, which I visited on a recent trip to the Netherlands. Isn't it beautiful? Calm, textural and layered, with handmade pieces by an array of independent artists and artisans.

I've also interviewed Holly, founder of the gallery and interior design studio @avenue.design.studio, on my blog. I've always admired the elegant, timeless spaces she creates, and the way she reflects the architectural context of each setting. I first met her in person last year, when I featured her own home in my book, and I've since worked with her on another exciting project that I can't wait to share soon...

I missed the opening event for this last year, so it was great to finally have a look around in person. The light is stunning, as is GUBI's selection of contemporary and classic designs - including the sculptural and futuristic F300 lounge chair, first designed by Pierre Paulin in the 1960s and recently relaunched.

Which room or corner is your favourite...?

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!
