New wall-art finds

It’s that time of the month when I’d normally share a round-up of new furniture and homeware designs from recent weeks, but today I’m doing something a little different. I’ve spent the last few days choosing new prints to hang in our living room and I’ve come across some wonderful new artists and just-launched ranges, so I’ve decided to put together an art special instead!

Without further ado, here are my favourite finds…

Emilie Van Camp

First up is my long-time Instagram friend, UK-based Emilie Van Camp, who is not only a skilled photographer but also a talented painter. She’s just launched a brand-new shop selling a range of abstract watercolour prints in soft shades of blue and grey, with prices starting at just £15. Her work is beautifully minimal, and I’m sure everyone who looks at it will see something different in the expressive shapes and brush strokes – to me, they speak of forests, rivers and towering mountains.

Melissa Selmin

Melissa Selmin is based in South Wales and is known for her hand-painted artwork, which often draws inspiration from her Chinese and Italian heritage. Her latest collection, ‘Serenity’, is a series of monochrome watercolour landscapes which explores the interplay between light and dark – my personal favourites are the beautifully moody ‘Overcast’ and the fairtytale-esque ‘Forest Mist’. Prices start at £39 for an unframed print.

Kristina Krogh

Next up is Danish artist Kristina Krogh, who has just launched a new collection encompassing drawings, paintings, paper cuts and three-dimensional folded artworks. A standout for me is ‘Paths No 1’, inspired by the waving cornfields of rural Denmark, which create intricate patterns when seen from above. I also love the look of ‘Sky Transformations’, a series of five works reflecting the changing colours of the sky and landscape over the course of the day, from dawn to midnight. Each piece has been released as a limited-edition run of 200 and is signed and numbered by Kristina. Prices start at €88.00 for an unframed print.

Coco Lapine Design

Munich-based Belgian designer and blogger Sarah Van Peteghem of Coco Lapine Design (whose beautiful apartment featured in a recent home-tour post) has added several new designs to her range of striking prints. My favourites are ‘Hestur’ and ‘Hestar’, which feature soulful-looking Icelandic ponies, and ‘Jardin d’Hiver’, a black-and-white photograph of the roof of the Royal Greenhouses in Laeken, Brussels; there are also several dramatic high-contrast prints showcasing plants and flowers. Sarah’s prints start at €28.50 (unframed) and can be shipped worldwide.

Nadia Attura via Rise Art

Last but by no means least is British artist Nadia Attura, who mixes detail from different photographs to create beautiful works of art. Each piece uses several images taken from different perspectives, which are combined to convey a sense of place and time.  Her ‘Sea Grey’ print – a serene, minimalist seascape in soft shades of grey – now takes pride of place in our living room, and looking at it instantly calms my mind after a busy day.

I discovered Nadia’s work via Rise Art, which has a curated collection of contemporary art. There are works to suit all budgets, and you can easily filter the selection by prize, size and style. And, if you don’t want to commit to buying a piece, you can rent it for a monthly fee – ideal if you have fickle tastes and want to change things up every now and then.
