New-year inspiration from H&M Home

January 11, 2019

New-year inspiration from H&M Home | These Four Walls blog

As soon as Christmas is over and the decorations are packed away, I always find myself searching for ways to freshen up my home for the new year. These images of the latest collection from H&M Home provide plenty of inspiration and show just how easy it is to breathe new life into interiors with a few carefully chosen accessories.

They were taken at beautiful Lisbon hotel Santa Clara 1728 – one of my picks for stylish places to stay in the city. Its crisp white walls and swathes of natural stone provide the perfect backdrop for the range, which mixes natural textures with monochrome pieces and bold graphic patterns. There are also flashes of soft turquoise (a subtle, uplifting shade) and silver metallics, adding an elegant twist to the largely neutral, pared-back look.

It’s a stunning combination which makes the perfect antidote to dreary winter days and which will also work brilliantly once spring rolls around. And, this being H&M, prices start at just £3.99 – proof that eye-catching design can be affordable and accessible.

If you want to recreate elements if this look yourself, here are a few of my favourite pieces from the collection. And you really don’t need much – a striking new vase or a few cushions dotted here and there really can  transform a space without adding needless, unsustainable clutter to your home.

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!

I now have this design in three different colourways around the house, and this is definitely my favourite to date!

A few weeks ago I travelled to Drammen in Norway f A few weeks ago I travelled to Drammen in Norway for the big project I'm working on (more on that soon), and while I was there I had a look around @askogeng's workshop. I've been a fan of their sustainable bamboo kitchens and furniture for a long time, so this was a real treat. And the space itself is full of the time-worn textures and beautiful details that always catch my eye.
