Norm Architects launches new bathroom collection

January 4, 2017

Norm Architects' 'Prime' bathroom collection | These Four Walls blog

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a restful festive break. After a wonderful week split between Bristol and my parents’ house in Derbyshire, I’m feeling restored and raring to get going on 2017 posts – starting with the news that Norm Architects has launched a pared-back bathroom suite for Spanish company Inbani.

Copenhagen-based Norm has created stunning designs for all sorts of brands (I recently covered its kitchen collaboration with Reform), and its latest project is no exception. Consisting of a sink and two baths, it’s called ‘Prime’ and billed as a ‘contemporary take on antique metal tubs’. Its rounded contours were inspired by the shapes made by pressurised water in elastic materials such as balloons, and the sleek sides are softened by rolled edges that take their cue from traditional designs.

It’s not the first time Norm has looked to the past when designing a bathroom range. Created for ex.t in 2015, its ‘Stand’ suite also balances old and new influences, reinterpreting the straight sides and slim iron legs typical of the 1920s and 30s. In keeping with Norm’s approach, they’ve been stripped of any decorative excesses, producing a minimal look with an elegant, gently nostalgic twist.

Both collections are beautifully timeless, and I’d happily have either of them in my bathroom. What about you? Do you have a preference?

Such beautiful, minimalist designs with a focus on simplicity. Now it’s the New Year, it’s time to start thinking about finally starting or finishing those house renovations that we’ve always dreamt of – and bathrooms are often high on the list!

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!

I now have this design in three different colourways around the house, and this is definitely my favourite to date!

I've been a fan of their sustainable bamboo kitchens and furniture for a long time, so this was a real treat. And the space itself is full of the time-worn textures and beautiful details that always catch my eye.
