Weekend pampering with Plum & Ashby

Weekend pampering with Plum & Ashby | These Four Walls blog

It may have been a short working week, but after a few long days in the office I’m very glad that Friday has rolled around once again. And what better way to celebrate the start of the weekend than a lazy evening of pampering? With that in mind, I want to introduce you to a lovely range of bath and body products from British brand Plum & Ashby. The company was launched in 2013 by Vicky . . .

Wedding mood board | Winter drama | These Four Walls blog

Following that surprise Icelandic proposal, Chris and I are now in full wedding-planning mode. I promise these pages won't turn into a stream of wedding-related stuff (there are plenty of dedicated blogs out there for that), but I am planning to share occasional bits and bobs that I think might be of interest to anyone else planning a big occasion - after all, everyone loves looking at pretty . . .

Recipe | Cabbage wedges, romesco sauce & crispy pancetta

Recipe | Cabbage wedges, romesco sauce & crispy pancetta | These Four Walls blog

I've been addicted to romesco sauce ever since I spent time living in Barcelona as a student, so I was delighted when Kym from Bristol-based food blog On the Plate decided to feature it in the latest post of our ongoing recipe series. Originating from Catalonia, romesco is a deliciously thick concoction made from almonds, red peppers and tomatoes. Kym's version is quick and easy to make and . . .

Home tour | A Swedish apartment with splashes of spring colour | These Four Walls blog

Adding accent colours to a muted scheme without overpowering it is always tricky, but this three-bedroom corner apartment in Gothenburg is a perfect example of how to do it well. Throughout, it mixes minimal monochrome décor with touches of spring-like blues and greens, creating a space that’s both fresh and calming. The lounge is my favourite room. The mint-green sofa works brilliantly next to . . .

Urban Jungle Bloggers | Botanical zoom | These Four Walls blog

This month's Urban Jungle Bloggers challenge is all about getting up close and showcasing those lovely little plant details that we'd normally miss - the patterns and textures, the colour variations, the tiny hairs on the leaves... I've chosen to feature my favourite new discovery - snake's head fritillary. I'd never heard of this graceful little plant before a recent trip to the local garden . . .

Egg-themed spring styling

Egg-themed spring styling | These Four Walls blog

There's a definite hint of spring in the air this week. The sun is shining (for the most part), blossoms and daffodils have started to emerge, and there's a touch of warmth in the breeze when I leave for work each morning. It feels as if the world is awakening around me, and it's making my spirits soar. Homeware brands also seem to be embracing the fleeting beauty of this time of year, and in . . .

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!

3. Country drives
4. Coming across 17th-century graffiti while house-hunting
5 & 6. A lazy Sunday stroll on Clevedon Pier, on one of those hazy days where the sea and sky seem to merge into one
7. Keeping drooping spring blooms going for as long as possible

I now have this design in three different colourways around the house, and this is definitely my favourite to date!

I've been a fan of their sustainable bamboo kitchens and furniture for a long time, so this was a real treat. And the space itself is full of the time-worn textures and beautiful details that always catch my eye.
