For this month’s ‘Room Envy’ post, I wanted to share a brief taster of one of my favourite new interior-design reads – Kinfolk Home. If you haven’t already got your hands on a copy of this luscious-looking tome then I’d highly recommend it – it’s devoted entirely to the art of slow living and showcases 35 beautifully relaxed, personality-packed homes around the globe. Trust me: you’ll easily lose hours poring over the pages!
This bedroom, which sits in an early 20th-century apartment in central Stockholm, was one of the many rooms that caught my eye as I flicked through the book. Despite its urban location, there’s an appealing hint of rusticity in the simple scheme, and the moody greys and blues create the sense of a calming cocoon that’s cossetted away from the city hubbub outside. The matching wall and woodwork colours lend a timeless elegance to the room, as does the classic 1950s-style lamp by French brand Jieldé. The Turkish rug, the large landscape painting (by Swedish artist Lennart Lund) and the brass candlestick provide subtle touches of colour without distracting from the serenity, and I love the addition of a sheepskin on the bed.
All in all, the perfect space for snuggling up on a cold winter’s night!

On my to read (drool over) list. What a fabulously simple yet moody room.
