If you crave simplicity and a slower pace of life, you’ll love my latest discovery: UK-based boutique interior and lifestyle store Ingredients LDN. I first stumbled across it on Instagram, and I was instantly smitten with its thoughtfully crafted home accessories and quietly beautiful styling.
Owner Nina has a background in clinical psychology and spent years supporting people with depression and anxiety, as well as working as a brand-strategy consultant. She founded Ingredients LDN to translate her interest in well-being into a tangible brand, and it’s based around the importance of taking time to savour the small moments that give everyday life meaning and value.
The store’s collection focuses on natural materials, subtle colours and warm textures, and all the items are sourced from artisan producers. There are glass vases, hammered silver planters, minimalist candleholders, soft linen throws, hand-loomed blankets and more, all chosen for their simple aesthetic and timeless design. The idea is that every piece will withstand the ebb and flow of trends, and look as good in years to come as it does today.
Nina explains: “Our products are selected with the intention that they will mellow over time, allowing the traces of their use to become part of their story, and we support small makers who are dedicated to their craft. The objects they create are rich in narrative and carry all those lovely, subtle nuances so often lost in modern production.”
The store’s latest addition is a selection of rustic yet refined ceramics hand-thrown by Portland-based Sarah Van Raden and Californian potter Peter Sheldon. Sarah is known for her understated, humble designs, which have a beautiful powdery texture; Peter fires natural stoneware clay using a 5th-century technique and finishes it with a non-toxic white glaze so that no two items are the same. In the images above and below, they’re paired with a grey linen kitchen towel, a hand-forged copper cup and stone-washed steel cutlery made in Italy.
Here are some of my other favourites from Ingredients LDN’s range to give you a taster of the pieces available. All can be shipped internationally.
