Winter may still be in full swing (and has in fact only just arrived here in Bristol, where I’ve finally been treated to some fabulously frosty mornings), but some of the new-season interiors collections are already beginning to filter out.
One of my favourites so far comes from Danish brand Hübsch, which has a wonderful approach to design. Its team believes homes should strike a balance between practicality and creativity, tradition and innovation and airiness and cosiness – and, above all, that they should reflect the people living within.
Hübsch’s latest look book is packed with beautiful furniture and home accessories to ogle, but it also provides plenty of general styling inspiration. It’s presented as a series of rooms – living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom and home office, all dressed in soft, spring-like blues, greens, pinks and greys. It’s a masterclass in how to personalise a space without creating clutter, with a perfect combination of sleek modern forms, elegant architectural features and natural materials such as rattan and bamboo, plus clusters of carefully chosen ceramics and glassware dotted here and there.
I’m a particular fan of the pale, untreated oak used for much of the furniture, and the hints of brass in the lamps and candleholders. I also have my eye on the hanging planters dangling down one of the windows, and the striking matt-grey vases – ideal for offsetting vibrant spring greenery.
The overall effect is light and inviting, with plenty of comfy spots where you could kick back and unwind. I’d certainly be happy to call this place home!
