At this time of year I always feel the pull of the great outdoors – I want to be among the blossom, breathing in fresh spring air and enjoying the sudden hint of warmth in the breeze. Even when I have to retreat indoors, I like to have reminders of the season dotted around the house, so this week I’ve been experimenting with easy spring flower arrangements with the help of vases from homeware website Addition Store.
One of my favourite new discoveries, Addition Store was founded by London-based Riti Kallas and her business partner Sri in August 2015. Riti and Sri are originally from Estonia and Singapore respectively, and they’ve combined their two heritages to launch a carefully curated collection of home accessories from Scandinavia and Asia. Their range covers planters, candle holders, textiles and more, all blending contemporary design with high-quality craftsmanship.
For my arrangement I used the ‘Willy’ vase by Copenhagen-based designer Louise Roe, which is beautifully minimalist and perfect for showing off spring blooms. I wanted to avoid anything fussy or overcomplicated, so I kept things simple with white anemones and a burst of eucalyptus (a year-round favourite of mine thanks to its silvery leaves and heady fragrance). I’m rather pleased with the results!
Other ideas for easy spring arrangements include:
- A few branches of blossom placed in a large glass jar such as Louise Roe’s ‘Viggo’
- Single stems of fluffy ranunculus in small glass containers, grouped together on mantle pieces, tables or shelves. Many people choose vintage bottles for this kind of display, but I love the idea of using the sleek glass-and-brass ‘LiD-S Vision’ vases from 10¹² TERRA
- Clusters of big, blousy peonies in the angular ‘Jewel’ vase. Pink peonies would look stunning in the blue-glass version, and white ones in the pink option
Addition Store kindly provided the vase for this post, but all words and opinions are my own.
