Exploring Danish design with Fredericia

Exploring Danish design with Fredericia | These Four Walls blog

One of the reasons I'm drawn to Scandinavian design is its timeless appeal. Rather than slavishly following the latest trends, it's often intended to last for decades and even be passed down through the generations. In fact many of the most popular Scandinavian pieces were created back in the 1950s and 60s, but they're just as relevant today as when they were first launched. Few brands embody . . .

Home tour | An elegant, calming house in London

Home tour - an elegant, calming house in London | These Four Walls blog

I've always believed that good interior design is as much about wellbeing as aesthetics - after all, decor can have a huge impact on our health and mood, and the feel of a space is just as important as the way it looks. Few places demonstrate this more than the beautiful North London home of Louisa Grey, founder of interiors studio House of Grey, which I was lucky enough to visit along . . .

Focus on: Stelton’s ‘Emma’ kettle

Focus on: Stelton's 'Emma' kettle | These Four Walls blog

Apologies for the lack of posts over the past couple of weeks – I’ve been on a bit of a whirlwind tour around Europe, with blogger trips to Copenhagen and Helsinki, a city break in Budapest with a friend, and an exciting photoshoot in London. More on all that to follow soon, but first I want to kick off a new series taking a closer look at some of my favourite design classics. I’m starting with . . .

New finds for September 2018 | These Four Walls blog

The start of another month – and in this case, another season – means it's time for my regular round-up of design news and other interesting bits and bobs. There's a lot to get through this time around, partly because details of autumn-winter 2018 collections continue to come through thick and fast, and partly because this week's Maison & Objet trade show in Paris has seen a raft of . . .

The autumn-winter 2018 collection from Menu

The autumn-winter 2018 collection from Menu | These Four Walls blog

Another of my favourite Scandinavian brands, Menu, has just released details of its autumn-winter collection, and I couldn't resist sharing some of the images. Not only are they packed with wonderful new-season designs to lust after, they're also styled beautifully. I love the palette of soft beiges, browns, greys and taupes, and the brass, marble and bronze accents. The overall look is elegant, . . .

Autumn-winter 2018 design inspiration from Ferm Living

Autumn-winter 2018 design inspiration from Ferm Living | These Four Walls blog

It may still be August, but details of the new-season interior collections are already beginning to emerge. Today I want to share a look at that of one of my favourite Danish brands, Ferm Living, as well as some design inspiration from its beautiful Copenhagen show apartment, known as 'The Home'. You might remember that I featured 'The Home' after a visit back in April, but it's had a bit of a . . .

Snaps from a lovely long weekend in leafy Richmond Snaps from a lovely long weekend in leafy Richmond, West London. I've spent many happy times there over the years as one of my closest friends lives there, but she's about to move house. So, Chris and I made the most of our last visit before she relocates - and the weather was certainly kind to us!

Some photos of the gorgeous @a.__gallery, which I Some photos of the gorgeous @a.__gallery, which I visited on a recent trip to the Netherlands. Isn't it beautiful? Calm, textural and layered, with handmade pieces by an array of independent artists and artisans.

I've also interviewed Holly, founder of the gallery and interior design studio @avenue.design.studio, on my blog. I've always admired the elegant, timeless spaces she creates, and the way she reflects the architectural context of each setting. I first met her in person last year, when I featured her own home in my book, and I've since worked with her on another exciting project that I can't wait to share soon...

I missed the opening event for this last year, so it was great to finally have a look around in person. The light is stunning, as is GUBI's selection of contemporary and classic designs - including the sculptural and futuristic F300 lounge chair, first designed by Pierre Paulin in the 1960s and recently relaunched.

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!
