Home tour - a thatched Danish house with a contemporary interior | These Four Walls blog

Many of the home tours I feature are the work of Copenhagen-based Norm Architects, and with good reason - I'm continuously inspired by the way the buildings they design are sensitive to their surroundings, adapted to the needs of the people who live in them, and utterly beautiful both inside and out! And today I have another fantastic example to share with you . . .

New discoveries from London Design Festival 2019

New discoveries from London Design Festival 2019 | These Four Walls blog

The third week in September brought London's annual Design Festival, with hundreds of exhibitions and installations springing up around the city. It's always brimming with inspiration, and after spending far too much money on train fare travelling back and forth from Bristol for last year's event, this time around I decided to stay with a London-based friend and see as much as I could . . .

15 of the best simple, sculptural candleholders & candlesticks

15 of the best simple, sculptural candleholders | These Four Walls blog

Autumn has officially arrived, and that means candle season is here! To be honest I light candles year-round, but as the nights draw in and the days get darker, they become even more important. Nothing beats the cosy, inviting glow of candlelight, and I tend to have them dotted around the living room, the dining table, the bedroom, the bathroom and even my little home office . . .

Eight alternatives to grey and white for fans of neutral decor | These Four Walls blog

If, like me, you want your home to be a calming sanctuary, then you're probably drawn towards neutral walls in grey and white. But soothing, understated interiors don't rule out using colour, and there are plenty of options if you want to inject a bit of interest while still keeping things fairly muted . . .

Kinuta Terrace - a pair of minimalist apartments in Tokyo | These Four Walls blog

One of the highlights of Copenhagen's '3 Days of Design' festival back in May was the launch of Karimoku Case Study - a new lifestyle brand developed by Japanese furniture manufacturer Karimoku, Copenhagen-based Norm Architects and Tokyo designer Keiji Ashizawa - and today I want to share a look at the project that kickstarted it . . .

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!

Back on the grid after more than two weeks. Thanks Back on the grid after more than two weeks. Thanks to everyone who sent messages checking I was OK - I just lost my Instagram mojo and needed a bit of a break. Anyway, here are some phone-camera snippets of life lately...

5 & 6. A lazy Sunday stroll on Clevedon Pier, on one of those hazy days where the sea and sky seem to merge into one
7. Keeping drooping spring blooms going for as long as possible

10. Brunch at the always-wonderful @lunitapasteleria

I now have this design in three different colourways around the house, and this is definitely my favourite to date!

I've been a fan of their sustainable bamboo kitchens and furniture for a long time, so this was a real treat. And the space itself is full of the time-worn textures and beautiful details that always catch my eye.
