Minimalist Scandinavian furniture from Design Of | These Four Walls blog

[Advertisement - this post is part of an ongoing partnership, but all words and opinions are my own] You might have seen Swedish company Design Of in last week's round-up of my favourite places to source minimalist garden furniture, and I'm excited to announce that I've now become one of its global brand ambassadors! It's a natural fit for me, as I've been following Design Of since it was . . .

Home tour - a converted stable block in Copenhagen | These Four Walls blog

I'm always drawn to spaces which have been adapted to suit modern living without losing any of their original character, and the subject of my latest home-tour post certainly fits the bill. One of central Copenhagen's few preserved villas, it was built in 1878 and was once a stable block for the horses that carried water from the city's lakes. The elegant 19th-century facade has been protected, . . .

A minimalist kitchen makeover on a budget | Mood board & plans

A minimalist kitchen makeover on a budget - mood board & plans | These Four Walls blog

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned briefly that we're about to give our kitchen a makeover, so today I want to share more about our plans and the thinking behind them. We inherited our current kitchen when we bought the house in 2014, and apart from adding a row of pendant lights and some open shelving, we haven't done anything else to it since we moved in. There's nothing particularly wrong . . .

Focus on: Georg Jensen's 'HK' pitcher | These Four Walls blog

[Advertisement - this post references a gifted item and a press trip, but all words and opinions are my own] Today I'm continuing my series exploring the history behind iconic pieces with a look at an item that's often considered a landmark of Danish design: Henning Koppel's elegant 'HK' pitcher, created for Georg Jensen back in 1952 and still in production 67 years later. . . .

Home tour | A minimalist apartment in Vancouver

Home tour - a minimalist apartment in Vancouver | These Four Walls blog

Today we're heading over to Vancouver for a look around an apartment which exemplifies minimalist Scandinavian style. It's the home of Kevin Chen, whose blog, Nordic Entrance, and associated Instagram feed always inspire with their beautiful imagery and useful design tips. Kevin's grey and white decor is my idea of interiors perfection - calm, considered and uncluttered, with lots of texture . . .

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!

Back on the grid after more than two weeks. Thanks Back on the grid after more than two weeks. Thanks to everyone who sent messages checking I was OK - I just lost my Instagram mojo and needed a bit of a break. Anyway, here are some phone-camera snippets of life lately...

2. Evening light hitting the last of the Japanese quince blossom in the garden
3. Country drives
4. Coming across 17th-century graffiti while house-hunting
5 & 6. A lazy Sunday stroll on Clevedon Pier, on one of those hazy days where the sea and sky seem to merge into one
7. Keeping drooping spring blooms going for as long as possible
8 & 9. Wisteria at @ntbarringtoncourt in Somerset
10. Brunch at the always-wonderful @lunitapasteleria
11. Enjoying the balmy spring breeze
12. Stunning mosaic floors at Chedworth Roman Villa in Gloucestershire

I now have this design in three different colourways around the house, and this is definitely my favourite to date!

A few weeks ago I travelled to Drammen in Norway f A few weeks ago I travelled to Drammen in Norway for the big project I'm working on (more on that soon), and while I was there I had a look around @askogeng's workshop. I've been a fan of their sustainable bamboo kitchens and furniture for a long time, so this was a real treat. And the space itself is full of the time-worn textures and beautiful details that always catch my eye.
