[This is a paid partnership with Vextile, but all words and opinions are my own]
Today I want to introduce you to Vextile, an intriguing new homeware brand which produces vegan cushions using recycled materials. And just scroll down for details of how to win one for yourself…
Vextile was founded by Sophie Ebeling, who has always had a love for interior design. After turning vegan in 2016, she was disappointed to discover that almost all luxury cushions use feather fillings, leaving few options for those seeking stylish soft furnishings that don’t contain any animal products. So, she decided to create her own.
Made in the UK, Sophie’s designs use waste factory fibres which would otherwise end up in landfill. These are dyed with eco-friendly dyes and then woven into new fabric which forms the front of the cushions. Unbleached cotton calico is used for the back, and everything is stitched together with certified organic thread. The filling is made up of small balls of recycled polyester, which are clustered together to provide a soft, plump feel that replicates natural down.
Although I’m not vegan myself, it’s great to see ethical, environmentally friendly accessories on the market – and the cushions are ideal for anyone with an allergy or sensitivity to feathers. What’s more, they look beautiful, with a lightly textured surface and muted pastel shades that fit perfectly into all sorts of interior schemes.
I had huge fun styling the range in my living room, and it works brilliantly with the simple, Scandinavian look of my home. Me being me, I was instantly drawn to the ‘Slate Grey’ and ‘Cloud Grey’ colourways, but I also loved the warm pink undertones of the ‘Biscuit’ cushion and the soft, subtle green of the ‘Sage’ option.
Each cushion costs £36, or you can buy a cover only for £29. Sophie is also kindly giving away a cushion to one lucky reader – to enter, just head over to Instagram, follow @vextilehome and @thesefourwallsblog, and leave a comment beneath this photo saying which colour you’d like to win. The giveaway is open worldwide and closes at midnight GMT on Sunday 12th November. The winner will be announced on Instagram on Monday 13th November. Good luck!
