Following that surprise Icelandic proposal, Chris and I are now in full wedding-planning mode. I promise these pages won’t turn into a stream of wedding-related stuff (there are plenty of dedicated blogs out there for that), but I am planning to share occasional bits and bobs that I think might be of interest to anyone else planning a big occasion – after all, everyone loves looking at pretty photos, don’t they…?
We don’t yet have a date, but we do know that we want our wedding to be relaxed and informal, with good food, good wine and lots of laughter (and no awkward speeches or first dances!). We also know that we’ll be employing the talents of my amazing friend Kirstie from Ruby & The Wolf, who will be able to translate the various ideas flying around my head into something tangible and stylish. I’m sure the venue and season we choose will end up shaping the overall look and feel of the day, so here’s the first in a series of mood boards which I’ve put together to cover various scenarios.
This is what we’ll aim for if we opt for a winter wedding, perhaps at Elmore Court in Gloucestershire, Babington House in Somerset or the hauntingly beautiful Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol: rich colours and textures, glowing candlelight, bouquets and urns overflowing with natural greenery, and delicious treats brimming with seasonal fruit….
