It's that time of year when I'd normally be putting the garden furniture away for winter, but it's 2020 so of course things are a little different. Ongoing restrictions mean I'm desperate to spend as much time outside as possible, and I'm very aware that alfresco catch-ups may well end up being the only way to see friends and family over the coming months . . .
Home tour | A minimalist getaway on the Swedish coast
In Monday's post I talked about how much I love the Bohuslän Archipelago to the north of Gothenburg, and just as I pressed 'publish' an email dropped into my inbox with details of a stunning new house hidden along its rocky shoreline. It was just a coincidence, of course, but it only seemed fitting that it should form the focus of my latest home tour! . . .
Scandinavian dreaming with Skandinavisk’s new Eau de Toilette collection
[Advertisement - this is a paid collaboration with Skandinavisk, but all words and opinions are my own] Oh how I long to head off to a little island somewhere in one of Scandanavia's many beautiful archipelagos... Sadly not possible at the moment, of course, so until I can travel again I'll have to content myself with a bit of daydreaming . . .
New finds | November 2020
It's time for my regular round-up of interesting design finds and I have some real gems to share with you this month. There are two stunning chairs which showcase the possibilities of sustainable design, gorgeous just-launched linens, an exciting new British tableware brand, and a beautiful webshop from one of my favourite artists . . .
A cosy stay at Cynefin Retreats, Herefordshire
Last week I shared a few tips on what to see and do in the beautiful county of Herefordshire, so for the second post from our recent trip I thought I'd put together a review of where we stayed: Cynefin Retreats. I know it seems a little odd to be publishing this just as travel restrictions are reintroduced across England, but I decided to go ahead anyway . . .
Transforming our small bathroom | The reveal
[Advertisement – this is a collaborative post with Crosswater, who offered me a press discount, but all words and opinions are my own] After a lot of dust, noise and chaos, it’s time to reveal the results of our bathroom makeover! Of all the rooms we’ve done in the house so far, this is perhaps the one I’m most excited to share . . .
An autumn break in Herefordshire
[Advertisement - this post is based on a press trip, but all words and opinions are my own] Earlier this month, Chris and I headed to Herefordshire for a much-needed break. We'd booked a cabin ages ago and were both looking forward to a relaxing week of lazy starts, long country walks and cosy fireside dinners . . .
Home tour | A cosy Finnish new build
New-builds can be stunning, but the pristine surfaces and blank walls mean they often end up looking a bit stark. Not this one. Created by Helsinki-based interior designer Laura Seppänen, whose work I've featured before, it's a fantastic example of how to add warmth and cosiness to a just-built home without detracting from the clean lines or sense of airiness . . .
Simple autumn styling with Georg Jensen’s ‘Tunes’ collection
[Advertisement - this is a paid collaboration with Georg Jensen, but all words and opinions are my own] I always love bringing a bit of seasonal nature into my home, and today I want to share some inspiration for simple autumn styling using the gorgeous 'Tunes' collection from Georg Jensen . . .
21 of the best minimalist sideboards
Over the past few months I've ended up researching minimalist sideboards for a few different client interior projects, so I thought I'd share my favourite finds here, too. Sideboards are incredibly useful and versatile pieces of furniture. They add extra storage and act as a place to display vases, artwork and the like. What's more, they're not just the preserve of dining rooms . . .
