A couple of weeks ago I posted some inspiration for outdoor living and, now that summer finally seems to be putting in an appearance, we’re beginning to turn the plans for our garden into a reality. A few tomato and pepper plants have already sprung up (having a south-facing plot seems to have brought out the Good Life in us), and now we’re focusing on making the patio area usable in time for BBQ . . .
The Elephant & These Four Walls look book
It’s no secret that I love Bristol, the place which I’ve called home ever since moving here to start university in 2001. It’s a city like no other – edgy yet elegant, cosmopolitan yet laid-back, forward-thinking yet firmly rooted in its past, and with a creative, independent streak that has spawned everything from Brunel’s industrial icons to Banksy’s street art. Until now they’ve been dotted all over the house, so I had lots of fun . . .
New temptations from Loaf
I’ve long been a fan of British homeware brand Loaf, whose laid-back designs blend timeless elegance with up-to-the-minute rustic and industrial touches, so I was excited to see some lovely new products land on its website this week. The just-launched items include five sofas and the intriguingly named ‘Shortbread' bed, plus more than 20 additional fabric choices in soft, powdery pastels – . . .
Outdoor living inspiration
I have gardens on my mind this week (well, there was a brief glimmer of summer before the rain returned...). More specifically, I’ve been thinking about outdoor dining and lounging, and the idea of creating a ‘room’ outside. We’ve recently moved from a flat with a large garden to a house with a much smaller plot, but I have a feeling we’re going to use our new outdoor space a lot more than the . . .
