Cold weather has begun to set in over the last few days – our central heating has been switched on, the cat has started to snuggle under the duvet at night, and sheepskins have appeared all over the house. With that in mind, I want to start the week by sharing a gorgeous Swedish home that’s packed with seasonal design inspiration.

Set in a turn-of-the-century building in Gothenburg, this elegant apartment offsets beautiful period features with sleek Scandinavian pieces, creating a wonderful fusion of old and new. It’s fairly small – just an open-plan living room and kitchen, a small bathroom, and a bedroom hidden behind double doors – but it feels far from cramped thanks to white walls and tall windows that let natural light pour in. The monochrome furniture is also ideal, as almost every item has clean lines and delicate legs which don’t overpower the compact space.

But what I love most about this apartment is the way it combines pared-back minimalism with a hefty dose of cosiness; the perfect retreat for autumn and winter. There are snuggly textures everywhere – sheepskins on the floors and bed, chunky woollen throws draped over the sofa and chairs, and an EOS feather lightshade (one of my all-time favourites) dangling from the bedroom ceiling. Adding to the inviting ambiance are little touches such as shelves of logs waiting by the traditional Swedish kakelugn stove, and candles and houseplants dotted on tables and windowsills. Come spring and summer, the scheme could easily be adapted with breezy linens and cottons in place of heavier fabrics.
