Instagram is awash with envy-inducing interiors and over the years it’s become one of my go-to sources of inspiration for minimalist design. I thought it was time I shared a few of my favourite feeds, so scroll down to see 10 Instagrammers who are well worth following if you’re also drawn to simple, Scandinavian-influenced décor and calming colours.
And of course don’t forget to check out my own gallery, @thesefourwallsblog (above), where you’ll find photos of my home, my design finds and my travels, plus the odd guest appearance from Kanga the Bengal cat…
Elisabeth Heier (@elisabeth_heier)
Norwegian blogger Elisabeth Heier‘s beautiful website is one of the first places I look for design news and advice, and her Instagram account is just as inspiring. I love the muted tones and minimalist styling, plus the way she captures light and shadow. She’s just moved into a new Oslo apartment and is also sharing fascinating insights into the renovation process as she transforms the once-empty shell into a very stylish home.
Katerina Dima (@onlydecolove)
Also based in Oslo is Katerina Dima, the architect, photographer and stylist behind popular blog Only Deco Love. Her bright, light-filled gallery is packed with design inspiration from her home and travels, as well as pretty little snippets of everyday life. Every now and then she also posts photos from her holiday cabin, set deep in the beautiful Norwegian wilderness.
Hannah Trickett (@han_house)
Hannah Trickett of Scandinavian interiors blog Hannah in the House has recently relocated from London to Copenhagen and I’m very much enjoying watching her new Danish home come together via her wonderful Instagram feed. You’ll find muted tones, pared-back spaces and plenty of striking Nordic design, along with occasional star turns from handsome cat Hansel.
Amanda Axelsson (@amandaxelssson)
Swedish digital designer Amanda Axelsson has a wonderful eye for interiors and uses her Instagram account to share peeks inside her stunning apartment. Expect inspiring still-life arrangements, beautifully styled ‘shelfies’ and lots of cosy corners, often mixing calming neutrals with splashes of warm terracotta and rich berry red.
Tracy Dixon (@tracydixon.photos)
Wiltshire-based photographer and aspiring potter Tracy Dixon’s still and serene gallery is one of the first feeds I look at when I open Instagram every morning. Her quiet, beautifully composed images never fail to inspire, and I love seeing glimpses of her minimalist house, her garden studio, her gorgeous dog Buddy and her talent for ceramics.
Charlotte of @lepetitfika
Born in France, raised in the UK and passionate about Nordic design, Charlotte from Le Petit Fika certainly brings an international outlook to her inspiring Instagram account. Expect coffee breaks, hyggelig moments and peeks inside her stylish London home, which fills me with envy every time I look at it. Claude the Siberian kitten also appears from time to time.
Selina Lauck (@selina.lauck)
The focus of Berlin-based blogger Selina Lauck’s striking gallery is her incredible apartment, which mixes clean-lined, contemporary pieces with restored period features. You’ll also find stylish shots of everyday moments, together with design finds from further afield.
Deborah of @apieceofcake82
UK-based photographer and stylist Deborah’s account is brimming with elegant, sophisticated interiors, alongside titbits of family life, travel and the renovation of her own home. Over the years her gallery has proven so popular that it’s spawned design and lifestyle blog Ollie & Sebs Haus, where you’ll find more of her beautiful work.
Sara Medina Lind (@saramedinalind)
I adore the soft blush tones and understated aesthetic of Sara Medina Lind’s images, and her Instagram gallery is one of my all-time favourites. A photographer and the co-founder of design studio Melo, she shares previews of her work, together with snapshots from her own home; there are also stunning, light-infused images from her travels around the globe.
Cate St Hill (@catesthill)
Last but by no means least is London stylist and blogger Cate St Hill, whose gallery focuses on simple design for everyday living. She shares my obsession with candles, coffee and the colour grey, and, like so many of my favourite Instagrammers, she also posts the odd pet photo – in this case featuring an adorable miniature dachshund called Francis.
