In the few years since it was founded, British website Made.com has become one of my go-to places for stylish yet affordable furniture and lighting: Scandi-style sofas, sleek dining tables, striking floor lamps, beds and bookcases… I’ve always associated the brand with larger items and online shopping, so I was intrigued to discover that not only does it also sell a wide range of smaller home accessories, it’s also opened pop-up stores in Brighton, Edinburgh and now Bristol.
I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch of the Bristol shop last week: a dinner with a group of fellow bloggers, catered by the team at soon-to-open restaurant DELA Bristol. The styling was beautiful, with flickering candlelight and beautiful Made.com tableware, and the food delicious – a Nordic tasting menu of pickled beetroot and quails’ eggs, wild mushroom and tarragon soup, raspberry-cured gravalax, warm cauliflower salad, mounds of cheese, and poached pear with a rosé reduction.
The event was also a wonderful opportunity to take a close-up look at some of Made.com’s wonderful designs, many of which are inspired by iconic pieces from the last few decades. Here’s a round-up of some of my favourites…
