Spring-summer 2017 collection from Menu | These Four Walls blog

This time of year is always an interesting one in the world of interiors, as it's when many brands release details of their spring-summer collections. I'll be sharing the new designs from all my favourite names over the coming weeks, kicking off with Danish stalwart Menu. Menu has been responsible for some iconic collaborations with a range of talented designers, and its latest collection is no . . .

Tips for choosing the perfect shade of grey

Tips for choosing the perfect shade of grey | These Four Walls blog

You’ve probably noticed by now, but I’m a little obsessed with grey; in fact, our entire house is painted in one shade or another. For me, it's the perfect colour: it's sleek, it's sophisticated, it works as a neutral backdrop for all sorts of accents, and it's wonderfully calming to come home to at the end of a busy day. But choosing exactly the right shade can be tricky, so here are a few tips . . .

Home tour | A minimalist farmhouse in Suffolk

Home tour | A minimalist farmhouse in Suffolk | These Four Walls blog

After talking about minimalism and Norm Architects in last week’s posts, it seems fitting that my first home tour of 2017 is a minimal house created by the Copenhagen-based studio itself. Contemporary Scandinavian design isn’t something you’d normally associate with a rural farmhouse, but Reydon Grove, located on a working farm in Suffolk (southern England), offers just that. Raised above the . . .

A minimalist approach for the new year

A minimalist approach for the new year | These Four Walls blog

Does anyone else find themselves craving calmness and simplicity in January? As soon as the madness of Christmas is over, I can't wait to tear down the decorations, clear out the clutter and focus on what really matters. I've always been drawn towards minimalism and pared-back design, but this year I want to streamline my life as well as my home. My aim is to get rid of anything that I no . . .

Norm Architects launches new bathroom collection

Norm Architects' 'Prime' bathroom collection | These Four Walls blog

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a restful festive break. After a wonderful week split between Bristol and my parents' house in Derbyshire, I'm feeling restored and raring to get going on 2017 posts - starting with the news that Norm Architects has launched a pared-back bathroom suite for Spanish company Inbani. Copenhagen-based Norm has created stunning designs for all sorts of . . .

Merry Christmas!

December 23, 2016

Merry Christmas from These Four Walls blog

Well, what a strange year 2016 has turned out to be. On a personal level, it's been wonderful - it started with a road trip around Iceland and a surprise proposal, and ended with a couple of exciting new projects (more on those to follow soon). On a global level, it's been turbulent and troubling, and I can't help facing 2017 with a twinge of trepidation. Next year is going to be a big one in . . .

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!

I now have this design in three different colourways around the house, and this is definitely my favourite to date!

I've been a fan of their sustainable bamboo kitchens and furniture for a long time, so this was a real treat. And the space itself is full of the time-worn textures and beautiful details that always catch my eye.
