Striking Danish design from 101 Copenhagen

Today I want to introduce a new Danish interiors brand that’s already generating a lot of buzz in the design world: 101 Copenhagen.

Launched at Maison & Objet in Paris last month, it aims to create timeless pieces with a focus on quality and craftsmanship – the kind of Scandinavian design ethos that I love. The first collection includes vases, coffee tables, handcrafted tableware, storage boxes, mirrors and home textiles, as well as bespoke lighting created in partnership with NORR11. The style is simple yet striking, with lots of organic shapes and muted colours, and many of the pieces have interesting textures such as suede, velvet, mottled concrete and richly grained wood. There are also flashes of brass and copper, often offset against smoky grey glass or matte white and black surfaces.

Here’s a peek at the range, beautifully styled with furniture from NORR11. The two brands have teamed up to run a pop-up shop on Copenhagen’s Købmagergade until January 2018, and I was lucky enough to pop in during my brief stay in the city on the way back from Sweden earlier this week.
