Happy Friday everyone! I’ve just returned from a wonderful trip to Berlin, which included good food, good wine and plenty of good design – more on that to follow soon, but in the meantime I want to share three beautiful new products from Swedish furniture studio Melo. Founded by a group of Stockholm-based friends, including designer and interior photographer Sara Medina Lind and furniture maker . . .
Profile | Skandinavisk
I'm very excited about my latest profile post, as it features a brand which I've admired for a long time. Based in Copenhagen, Skandinavisk celebrates the Scandinavian way of life through a range of scented candles and room fragrances, all with simple yet wonderfully evocative names such as SKOG ('forest'), HAV ('sea') and KOTO (Finnish for 'cosy at home'). Resident’s new Somerset shop
I love exciting new openings, particularly when they're close to home in southwest England. It’s set by the sea just outside Stockholm, and the whole place has been designed to showcase the wonderful Scandinavian light. Inside, the house retains many of its original features, including wooden panelling and plaster ceiling . . .
‘Objects’ by Republic of Fritz Hansen
Another beautiful new product line has popped onto my radar – the ‘Objects’ home accessories collection by Republic of Fritz Hansen (perhaps the most famous of any Danish furniture manufacturer, and the company behind a raft of classic pieces). Launched at the recent Salon del Mobile in Milan, ‘Objects’ encompasses 12 simple yet striking items created by names such as Jaime Hayon, Wednesday . . .
Home tour | A Danish cottage in calming greys
I’m heading back to ever-reliable Scandinavia for my latest home-tour post. I’ve seen photos of this beautiful Danish kitchen popping up regularly on Pinterest in recent weeks, and I couldn’t resist taking a peek at the rest of the house. A restored 19th-century cottage in the Copenhagen suburb of Taarbæk, it’s the home of talented interior stylist Cille Grut who, by the looks of it, loves grey . . .
