Les Guimards stoneware from Eyespy (+ discount)

Les Guimards ceramics from Eyespy (+ discount!) | These Four Walls blog

You might have seen mentions of Bristol-based homeware website Eyespy on these pages before, as it’s where I sourced the 1970s Bertoia chairs which sit in our dining room. But I was intrigued to discover that alongside vintage furniture and lighting, Eyespy now offers a range of home accessories with a simple, Scandinavian- and Japanese-inspired aesthetic. There are some beautiful items, including . . .

Spring & summer 2016 collection from Hübsch

Spring & summer 2016 collection from Hübsch | These Four Walls blog

Winter may still be in full swing (and has in fact only just arrived here in Bristol, where I’ve finally been treated to some fabulously frosty mornings), but some of the new-season interiors collections are already beginning to filter out. One of my favourites so far comes from Danish brand Hübsch, which has a wonderful approach to design. Its team believes homes should strike a balance . . .

Review | Oak – The Nordic Journal | These Four Walls blog

In this fast-paced digital world of ours, there’s something special about curling up with a mug of coffee and some good old-fashioned printed pages. I love taking a little bit of time out on a busy day to pore over some of the beautiful independent magazines which have sprung up in recent years – Cereal, Another Escape, Open House, Lodestars Anthology, Kinfolk.... There’s something tangible and . . .

Home tour | A reinvention of a 1960s house

January 11, 2016

I tend to veer towards period properties, but this contemporary bungalow instantly caught my eye when I spotted it on the website of Danish interiors magazine Bo Bedre. Located by a lake to the north of Copenhagen, it sits within a 1960s shell that has been transformed into a sleek family home by architects Ernst + Kindt-Larsen. The house coils around the water, with a split-level floorplan to . . .

Travel inspiration for 2016

Aire de Bardenas, Spain | Travel inspiration for 2016 | These Four Walls blog

January is always a time for making plans, and my plans tend to revolve around travel. I’m lucky enough to journey abroad often – partly because of my day job with i-escape.com, and partly because I can’t imagine going any length of time without feeling the call of somewhere new. Some of my adventures for this year have already been booked, others are just beginning to take shape, but I . . .

Handcrafted minimalism from Melo

Handcrafted minimalism from Melo | These Four Walls blog

I’m very excited about sharing my first interiors discovery of 2016, Swedish furniture studio Melo, as it embodies so many things I love – simplicity, high-quality craftsmanship, and beautiful yet functional Scandinavian design. Melo was founded by five Stockholm-based friends, including interior photographer Sara Medina Lind and furniture maker Olle Holman, who first started chatting about . . .

Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist Eight years ago today. Carousel posts didn't exist then so I'm using our anniversary as an excuse to share some of my favourite wedding photos.

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!

Back on the grid after more than two weeks. Thanks Back on the grid after more than two weeks. Thanks to everyone who sent messages checking I was OK - I just lost my Instagram mojo and needed a bit of a break. Anyway, here are some phone-camera snippets of life lately...

3. Country drives
4. Coming across 17th-century graffiti while house-hunting
5 & 6. A lazy Sunday stroll on Clevedon Pier, on one of those hazy days where the sea and sky seem to merge into one
7. Keeping drooping spring blooms going for as long as possible

10. Brunch at the always-wonderful @lunitapasteleria

I now have this design in three different colourways around the house, and this is definitely my favourite to date!

A few weeks ago I travelled to Drammen in Norway f A few weeks ago I travelled to Drammen in Norway for the big project I'm working on (more on that soon), and while I was there I had a look around @askogeng's workshop. I've been a fan of their sustainable bamboo kitchens and furniture for a long time, so this was a real treat. And the space itself is full of the time-worn textures and beautiful details that always catch my eye.
